Pascal Krauss
claimed the Cage Warriors Welterweight belt with an impressive victory
over John Quinn. In the first, the German scored with stinging
leg kicks and punches in bunches. When the fight hit the floor, he
secured top position and let the elbows go. New round, same story.
Referee Goddard hovered as the barrage of short punches and elbows
continued. Krauss went for the finish. He switched position and
attempted an anaconda choke. Quinn escaped, but the respite was short
lived. Krauss took his back and eventually applied a fight ending rear
naked choke.
The last CWFC Welterweight champion was Dan Hardy. On this evidence,
Pascal Krauss has the tools to follow him to the big show.
In the night's other CWFC title match, Ken Rosfort defeated
Greg Loughran. The fight was a stand up affair from start to finish.
Rosfort began well, landing solid one twos, but Loughran took over. He
took centre cage and pushed the Dane back. Although he was on the back
foot, Ken had some success, rocking Greg with a right hand at the end of
the second and scoring a flash knockdown at the start of the third. As
the pair entered the championship rounds, the odds were on Loughran to
grind out a decision victory, but disaster struck when Rosfort landed a
right hand to the mouth. Greg’s top lip was sliced open and blood flowed
out of the cut. The ref had no option. He waved the fight off and Ken
Rosfort was the new CWFC Lightweight champion.
Pete Irving was back to his best. He showed that he is a complete
mixed martial artist in his three round domination of Nordin Asrih.
On the feet, Irving unleashed brutal body kicks and he slammed his man
to the ground at will. On the canvas, Pete drew blood with vicious
elbows. When it went to the judges, there was only ever going to be one
decision.
Daniel Thomas was out of the traps quickly, pushing the pace
against Ali ‘Insane’ McClean. ‘Denzil’ never let up and closed
the deal with a guillotine three and a half minutes into the first
round.
Even quicker was Louis Chapman’s fight with Jay Gilbey. On
26 seconds, Chapman’s left hook connected to the chin and it was all
over.
Mick Sinclair picked up Josh Dennis, carried him across
the cage like a sack of coal and dumped him in his corner. Directed by
his brother Rob, Mick went on to batter Dennis mercilessly until the ref
stepped in.
Shaun Lomas threw a big overhand right and knee. Neither stopped
the advance of Jim Wallhead. Once Jimmy took Lomas down, the
contest was effectively over. He passed guard and then mounted the
journeyman. After dishing out some ground and pound, Jimmy took his
back, slapped on the rear naked choke and waited for the inevitable tap.
James Bateman came on strong in the final round to earn a
majority decision over Ronan McKay.
Sara Moras' ground and pound assault forced the ref to stop
her fight with fellow debutant Helena Martin in the second round.
Tom Breese defeated Ramon Silva with a first round rear
naked choke. |
